What does your morning routine look like?

I wake up quietly. I always lie down and do breathing exercises and feel my body.
What thoughts linger from the day(s) before and what I need to work on.

The first thing I do when I wake up is yoga, or a combination of yoga/pilates before I wake the kids. I love the quiet morning hours, and always get up early so I have time in my own company before the day really starts.
I live pretty strictly by the 8/16 principle, so I rarely eat before after 11 am.
But after yoga, I always drink a big glass of electrolytes and usually continue with herbal tea until I eat.

How do you best spend an hour in your own company?

My absolute favorite class in your own company over the summer period is yoga on the beach/bathing pier at Fejø.

The sound of the ocean, the fresh scent of the sea on my face.
The sound of birds and otherwise just peace to focus on what my body needs in terms of exercises and movement.

In Copenhagen and during the winter months it's breathwork. I go to OneThirtyLab and it's absolutely phenomenal. You're both refreshed, full of energy and totally de-stressed after half an hour to an hour of breathwork.

What is your best advice for showing self-love and prioritizing yourself in a busy everyday life?

Proper and deep breathing.
You can very easily incorporate this into your everyday life.
It can be done in the bath, while making packed lunches, on the bike, in the car - in between all other activities.

To think through your day, feeling both the good and the bad.
And exercise - it's the most important thing in our lives that our body functions well, and the better shape you are in, the better you usually feel in your body. On top of that, there are all the endorphins and the mental peace you also give your body when you're working out.

Have you made a decision in your life that has been particularly good for you?

To scale down. On all points.
My work life, my housing, my tasks, activities and my social life.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice on how to create a balanced life, what would it be?

Don't rush. Things take their time, and nothing good comes from running fast, you'll just get out of breath – and maybe also get confused and lose focus.

Your best tip for a strong and healthy body and a balanced mind?

For me it is very important that I exercise. Yoga, pilates, strength and a little cardio. In addition, I live vegetarian, occasionally with a little fish, and as I said, I live according to the 8/16 principle, and eat between 11 am and 7 pm. Electrolytes and vitamins. Sleep and getting some peace and quiet in my daily life is also important.

I suffer from migraines and this kind of lifestyle has had a huge impact on reducing my migraine attacks!

Island life at a slow pace away from the city with a focus on nature, presence and tranquility - have you always been good at prioritizing these little breaks in a busy everyday life and what do they mean to you?

It's especially in recent years that I've become aware of how important that combination is to me. I would find it hard to do without the pulse and all the cultural input from the city, but it's on the island that I recharge, get into gear and feel myself.

Do you have an easy beauty tip that we can share with others?

Anette from Beautyspace taught me many years ago the invaluable tip of 'scrubbing'/cleansing with cold water on a cotton cloth instead of various harsh products. It has been a game changer for my skin. That and then AHA cleanser & my Avit creams from Beautyspace and Lucia Care respectively.

For my body, hair & fragrance, I primarily swear by Karmameju. I switch between products and fragrances from summer to winter.

In terms of makeup beauty tips, a good mascara and brow kit are always in my bag, and for me it's just as important as having clothes on before I go out the door.

Currently I use Max Factors Masterpiece and Brow Revival.

If you could freely choose an activity that would give you lots of energy, what would it be?

Tennis or bike ride in the countryside in the summer.
