Nepal
Nepal has a population of 39 million people.
The land, people and culture of Nepal have always been fascinating. We love working in this beautiful country, which has enriched us with glimpses of natural grandeur, true moments of spiritual peace and the opportunity to promote gender equality.
Nepal is made up of gods and goddesses, temples and palaces, art and craft, music and war history. However, there is one skill that characterizes every part, and that is 'the hands of skilled workers'. At CARE BY ME we wanted to unite this craftsmanship with our Danish design roots. In the Kathmandu Valley, hundreds of years of craftsmanship tradition are continued in our small workshops, where we knit by hand with knitting needles and on old-fashioned manual knitting machines, and weave both manually and semi-automatically.
CARE BY ME wants to educate young women with the aim of making them independent and able to support themselves.

India

India has a population of 1.33 billion people.
The production and use of cotton dates back to ancient times. The first evidence of cotton use dates from India and Pakistan around 6,000 BC.
It was not until the 1st century AD, when Arab traders brought their cotton products to Italy and Spain, that the fiber was introduced to Europe. In the late Middle Ages, cotton also became known in Northern Europe.
India is a country of diversity in every way. From culture and economy to the Indian landscape - diverse elements in one country. India's many different physical characteristics make the country a fascinating destination. In fact, India contains every type of landscape found on Earth; cold mountains, dry deserts, vast plains, hot and humid highlands, long coastlines and tropical islands - India has it all.
CARE BY ME works with a third generation family business in India. The great-grandfather started with 3 handlooms and 4 technicians, who have been handling orders for the domestic market since 1972. Today, the factory is both GOTS and Fairtrade certified. They also have a very impressive program that motivates the workers by rewarding them if their children do well in school - they actually get a bonus for it.
Denmark
Denmark is a small country with approximately 5.7 million inhabitants.
Danish design is known all over the world, and the country has been a leader in the field of design for decades. Whether in Danish furniture, Danish fashion, or Danish toys, Denmark continues to produce world-famous design classics.
Danish design is characterized by functionalist design and architecture, which was developed in the mid-20th century. Many of the Danish designers were influenced by the German Bauhaus school and used the new industrial technologies, which they combined with the idea of simplicity and functionalism in the design of buildings, furniture and interiors. Many of the things have become icons and are still produced. Some examples of this are the Egg, the PH lamps and the Opera House in Sydney, Australia.
Starting in the 1950s and with design legends like Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner, Danish design has developed into a strong international brand. Scandinavian - and in particular Danish - design has become synonymous with timeless style.
Another fundamental aspect of Danish culture is the concept of hygge, and for the Danes it particularly stands for relaxation with good friends or family and good food.
