What does your morning routine look like?

I get up early when the alarm clock rings, drink a glass of water with a few drops of lemon (essential oil) in it. It gives me good energy and sun in my stomach, perfect for the many cold and dark winter months!

Afterwards I enjoy a piping hot cup of coffee with oat milk, A38 and crispbread with whey cheese – Good morning :)

How do you best spend an hour in your own company?

An hour in my own company at home almost always includes: a cozy cup of tea or coffee, candles, a blanket, and a good crime novel.

What is your best advice for showing self-love and prioritizing yourself in a busy everyday life?

I have very busy days, weeks, months and years – and sometimes I scold life a little for being so busy.

But I also know that as an entrepreneur, I initiate many of my busy periods myself, and I am both happy about that, but also tired of it at other times.
I really LOVE that Simple Living , which is so hard to grasp sometimes.

When there have been too many, long and hard periods – I try to give myself a day where everything on the calendar is canceled or postponed.

For me, it's important to say NO once in a while, it's actually self-love – days without a program where all content is something I decide myself – uhh that's the best I know!

In everyday life, the little breathers are often the walk with my puppy Viggo, it makes me happy to see him happy with a wagging tail, off into the blue – just me and him.

Have you made a decision in your life that has been particularly good for you?

7 years ago I quit my job as a buyer in a fashion company and said I wanted to be self-employed, it's the best decision I've ever made!

I've never regretted it – despite the many sleepless nights where finances, the future and various unsolved puzzles play tricks on me!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice on how to create a balanced life, what would it be?

I would tell her: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, BECAUSE YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

Your best tip for a strong and healthy body and a balanced mind?

I like to exercise 2-3 times a week – running, HIIT training and Yoga – this is definitely what gives me the best and strongest body.

Cut down on coffee and turn up the water!

Go to bed early once in a while – turn off your phone, iPad and computers and notice how good sleep feels. Both when you fall asleep and when you wake up well-rested.

Do you have any good advice for a more sustainable everyday life?

I use meal boxes, and have tried many different ones. Right now I use Hello Fresh , and it gives me peace of mind 3 times a week when it comes to food for me and my family. It also helps with unnecessary mistakes in the supermarket – it feels good and sustainable!

I also use Too Good to go as often as possible to avoid food waste and that way I like to eat food with a short shelf life.

And of course, using candles from Åbenlys, which are better for the indoor climate and better for the environment when you want to get cozy.

Do you have an easy beauty tip that we can share with others?

Good peeling and wellness doesn't have to cost a fortune - whether it's the face or body that needs light exfoliation or just well-being in the form of fragrance.

I often use coffee grounds from my kitchen in my bath oils, preferably in the bath, so I can deeply cleanse my skin.

And if I want a little everyday wellness, I add a few drops of essential oil to the bath oil – preferably rosemary or lavender, it's pure pleasure!

If you could freely choose an activity that would give you lots of energy, what would it be?

I love winter swimming – and have found joy in the cold thrill.
I feel that it resets the filled mind for a period of time and you start fresh with renewed energy and the feeling of being able to feel your whole body filled with tiny fires that one by one extinguish themselves again.

Open air

ÅBENLYS started in 2015 – where the idea itself was to produce CO2 neutral lights.
It was the start of a handmade production at home in the living room – where glass candles and tealight holders were filled with 100% pure soy wax.

The focus was on candlelight without feeling guilty about the indoor climate, as well as preserving the opportunity to enjoy yourself without compromising Mother Earth.

And that's how ÅBENLYS found its way into the homes and hearts of Danes!
