What does your morning routine look like?

I start my day with a large glass of hot water infused with spices and fresh lemon. Then I meditate for 15 minutes.

After that, I give my feet a session in the foot massager while I consciously cultivate a state of gratitude.

I finish by setting my intention for the day – focusing on where I’m headed and reminding myself that what I do now brings me closer to my goals. For me, passion and goals are what give life meaning.

How do you best spend an hour in your own company?

I love my daily walk through Charlottenlund Forest down to the water.
I'm also very interested in politics, so when I watch television, it's often debate programs – usually accompanied by a foot bath and some time with my Gua Sha stone.

By 10pm at the latest I'm ready for eight hours of sleep, I enjoy that so much.

What is your best advice for showing self-love and prioritizing yourself in a busy everyday life?

I’m happy to share what works for me. But we’re all different, so the most important thing is to discover the habits that truly recharge you – and notice the ones that drain you. Do a quick habit audit: ask yourself, ‘If I keep this up long term, what will it do for me?’

And practice the self-loving no. Pause before you say yes; often, saying no is how you take better care of yourself.

Have you made a decision in your life that has been particularly good for you?

I consciously choose not to spend time with people who don’t lift my energy – and instead seek out people and communities where we lift each other up.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice on how to create a balanced life, what would it be?

I opened my first institute Body Balance in 1984, always seeking balance in body, mind and in life.

My advice would be to trust myself more and not care what others said and thought when I talked about Alkaline Living, and that my children should not have milk, sugar and other junk :)

Your best tip for a strong and healthy body and a balanced mind?

Choose food and drink as close to their natural form as possible. Most pre-made products contain added unhealthy fats, sugar, and other additives – cutting back on these helps. Keep it simple: prioritize what costs nothing –water, good sleep, movement, and giving and receiving love. Eat and drink ALKALINE :)

Has the interest in both mental and physical health always been a part of your life – or is it something that has grown over time?

After school, I worked in a health-food store, and gymnastics was my favorite subject.
At 17, I began my first training as a movement educator.

I also met with a clairvoyant who told me the universe expected a lot from me – and I hope I’ve lived up to that. The spiritual dimension is present in everything I do.

Do you have an easy beauty tip that we can share?

Health starts from within. The quality of your hair, skin, and nails reflects how your body is doing. Yes, genetics play a part – but they speak loudest when the body is out of balance.

My best beauty tip: bring your fatty acids into balance and support a healthy internal pH. When you give your body the right conditions, it responds – like a plant that lifts its head and begins to bloom with water, nourishment, and sun.
It’s actually quite simple.

If you could freely choose an activity that would give you lots of energy, what would it be?

I pour a lot of energy into everyday life, so I’m taking a week for a meditation retreat – nothing on the agenda but to meditate. It recharges me, and new ideas naturally begin to flow.
